The Funnies
When I was a kid we used to call the comics in the newspaper
‘the funnies.’ And on Sunday mornings while Daddy was still in bed, my sister
Geri and I would bring him the paper and ask him to please read us the funnies.
And he did. This didn’t occur on other days of the week because he was getting
ready for work or gone by the time we got up. The only comics I remember from
childhood days were the Katzenjammer Kids, Dagwood, and Li’l Abner.
